From IRS Auditor to Your Side of the Table
“It felt like I was working for the wrong side.”
Carlotta Thompson started studying tax law at 14 years old, when an IRS instruction booklet arrived in the mail with her name on it. She read it cover to cover and set her sights on working for the IRS.
She got there, and spent seven years as an IRS auditor. What she saw changed everything: tax return after tax return with hundreds of thousands of dollars in missed deductions, from business owners who had no idea what they legally qualified for, and no one helping them.
So she left, and built the firm she wished those business owners had: proactive strategy, done-with-you implementation, and documentation built to hold up, because she knows exactly what the other side looks for. What began as a ministry is now Tax Strategists of America, and giving back remains at the heart of it through her Called to Love nonprofit.
